In His Presence
In His Presence

When speaking of the armor of God, Ephesians 6:8 tells us; “Take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”
Jesus models these words for us beautifully in his response to Satan’s temptations in the wilderness (Matthew 4:1-11; Luke 4:1-13). Jesus repelled every one of those temptations with a quote from scripture.
Just as Satan attacked Jesus, he attacks us as well. Our best defense against Satan’s attacks is for us to have a great offense – namely a knowledge of God’s Word instilled in our hearts and minds. To that end, each week a new scripture will be highlighted. Not so that we may simply memorize it in our minds, but so that we may hold it in our hearts, that it may become a part of who we are. Then when Satan’s temptations come, and they will, we are prepared to deflect them.
This week’s scripture comes from Hebrews 4:14-16 . . . “Let us therefore approach the throne of grace with boldness . . .” (Heb. 4:16a)
As you spend time with this passage (Hebrews 4:14-16), you may want to consider the following Questions for Thought / Suggestions:
- Spend time meditating on who Jesus is to you.
- What is your greatest weakness; the one you struggle with the most? Are you comfortable taking it to Christ? (v. 15)
- Do you think of God in terms of grace or judgment?
- Why should we be confident enough to approach God with boldness? (v. 16)
- What does the writer of Hebrews promise we will find there?
